Young People’s Role Model – LaQuan’s Idea

I think the youth should look up to LeBron James because, he is a good role model he motivates kids not to be just like him but to be better than him. He is a basketball player and a business man he makes his own sneakers and clothing. The youth should also look up to LeBron James because he is not a bad influence and he doesn’t let the “Haters” interfere with him.

Washington, DC – LaQuan’s Experience

When we arrived on Thursday we went to meet with Congresswoman Yvette Clark and Congressman Elijah Cummings. It was really interesting speaking with them and asking them questions. Speaking with Congressman Cummings was really deep and emotional because when he was speaking about his childhood, he got emotional while he was talking to us and he said something I will never forget. He said, “You are not the future, you are the now!” He made me feel very confident that I can do anything as long as I stay in school and study and I felt strong and motivated. Today we went to Georgetown University and I like what the school promotes. The school doesn’t let its students drop out easily by trying to give you as much help as possible. I think Georgetown will be one of the schools I apply to when I am applying to college. We also went to the Holocaust Museum. That museum reminded me of things I saw in museums in South Africa. It is terrible that people were killed just because of what they look like.

Volunteer Abroad or at Home – LaQuan’s Idea

If I could travel anywhere in the world and volunteer for one month. I would go back to Africa because I think Africa is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I would help a lot more families in Africa by buying them, food, clothes and thinks to help them survive. I would help them because it is a positive thing to do and I would want to put some beautiful smiles on some families faces.

Child Obesity – LaQuan’s Idea

I think 1 of 3 kids or overweight or obese because kids go to the store a lot by themselves and buy too much junk food without their parents being there. I think it can be stopped if the companies make a popular snack that taste like junk food that kids eat but very healthy then a lot of kids will buy them when they are at the store or parents will by huge boxes of them for their kids
