Should Professional Athletes and Musical Artists Considered Role Models? – Shari Clark

I think proffessional athletes and musical artists should be considered role models becacause they provide hope to people. They are in the public eye which makes them role models automatically. The artists who are sucessful can motivate young minds to study hard, go to college, and stay off drugs. For some children they see their athletic abilty as the gateway to a better life. Also, many of them do not have much of anything if it wasn’t for their athletic gifts and talents.

Shari Clark’s Idea on Automatic Citizenship to Children Born to Illegal Immigrants

I think it is not fair lawmakers want to stop granting automatic citizenship to chilren born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants. Citizenship should be inherited from parents, or granted to those who live here long enough and contribute to society. The whole situation leads to absurd things like alien pregnant mother coming to the U.S. for vacation or for better healthcare during birth, and suddenly their children are citizen. Also, why should a child of American parents born abroad be an American citizen? I just don’t get it.

What Other African Country Would Shari Clark Like to Visit?

I would like to visit Ghana. The reason why I would want to visit Ghana is to explore the culture, food and most importantly help free the child slaves on and around Lake Volta region. I would like to visit familes and help by going food shopping. I would also like to learn how to play their sports.

This Year Bad Winter Season by Shari Clark

We had a bad winter this year. I think people blame it on global warming because the weather changes that’s how people can get sick. What I would do to help the planet keep clean is encourage people to recycle. For example, when you see trash on the floor pick it up and throw it in the garbage, so that way it helps the environment stay clean. I would like to do more volunteer work because I love to help others to accomplish their goals.

Shari Clark’s Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancelor

I think people have the right to be upset about Cathy Black being NYC Public School Chancellor. How can someone like her, who has no experience in the education field be in charge of our public schools. It’s downright wrong in my opinion. How would she feel when she goes to the doctor for a checkup and a pilot examines her instead of a doctor.

I agree that there is something wrong with NYC Public school system. Why it is that test scores in public school is much lower than private schools or even charter schools? To solve this problem I would suggest mandatory afterschool tutoring for all students at least 2 to 3 times a week.  Also, there should be more teachers per classroom.

South Sudan Break Away from Sudan by Shari Clark

This is an important moment in Sudan because of the referendum on the separation of South Sudan. The secession vote is the first in history for the African continent.  Also Sudan held its first International Women’s Day. Independence of South Sudan will require a new national anthem. The new Sudan as a free country, the world’s youngest.  I hope they can put behind then past atrocities, torture, maiming and killing of civilians.

Shari Clark on The Public Outcry For Gun Control

Yes, I think there is a need for better gun control laws. As a citizen, I can help by going to different schools and communities talking about how guns can destroy lives. I also can write to our Congressman about changing the laws concern guns. My main focus would be you have to be 21 and older to be able to buy a gun.

Given the Revolution in Egypt, How Does Shari Clark Feel to Live in a Democracy?

I think it is important to live in a democracy so that people can have and enjoy the freedom of speech. As citizens we are able to express our ideas without any fear of retaliation by the government.  People who live under a dictatorship do not have rights such as the right to an education and to privacy.

What Would Shari Clark Say to President Obama If She Could Speak With Him?

I would talk to President Obama about peer pressure because I hear and see how peer pressure affects my generation, especially when it comes to gang intake. Nowadays some people from my generation feel that they have to join a gang in order to be respected. They are pressured into believing that they will be protected once in a gang. Another reason why some people from my generation join gangs is that they want the opportunity to earn fast cash by robbing, stealing and dealing. So if I have a chance to talk to President Obama about a social problem in our country it sure would be peer pressure!

Which Leader Inspires Shari Clark the most?

The leader I look up to the most is my former art teacher Ms. Mumford. I look up to her because she introduces me into different types of art technique like steel life and volume. In volume I learned how to shade in with a color pencil from dark, medium to light. Also I learned how to take anything like a bottle, vase, or kitchen silverware and make it into a steel life piece.
