What Other African Country Would Kavon William Like to Visit?

Going to South Africa was a wonderful experince. I would like to visit Guyana because my mother’s friend is from there. She used to tell me how poor her country is and she wish she was rich so she can go back home and rebuild Guyana.

I think by going to Guyana I would volunteer there the same way I did in south Africa last summer. I would like to go and help the poor, listen to their stories and shop for them. This experience would help me to appreciate what I have in life.

Kavon Williams’ Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancelor

I think that parents have the right to express how they fell about Cathy Black. Some people fell that Cathy Black doesn’t have the experience to become a school chancellor because she is a business person. She has no experience dealing with children. I believe parents are upset because they’re thinking about their children’s future, and they would want someone who has experience in this field.

What I think is wrong in the NYC Public school is that there are teachers who really don’t care about the kids’ education. Also, I think there is a lack of school supplies and equipment to facilitate learning. We need more teachers who are willing to teach kids so they will get a good education to prepare them for the future.

South Sudan Break Away from Sudan by Kavon Williams

In South Sudan for 2 decades there have been conflicts and two civil wars that led to 2 millions people being killed. Sudan has been fighting to become an independent state, but there are still conflicts between southern and northern Sudan. Last January 4 million people have voted to split Africa’s largest country into two.

South Sudan was dealing with corruption and scandals and they are tired of it. The biggest reward in Sudan is achieving independence and allowing them to have their own basic services, their own material resources. Now that Sudan the people have voted to become independent, it’s going to be a long and hard process. On July 9, 2011 South Sudan will name its new state and develop their own identity.

Kavon Williams on the Public Outcry for Gun Control

Yes, I think there should be better gun laws because a lot of people are getting shot and sometimes they die. Also I think there should be better gun laws because guns are getting in the hands of youths who don’t have any idea how to operate them. A lot of young people are losing their lives for no reason.  I think that it’s so easy to get a hold of a gun because there are no laws, no ID’s being shown to prove the reason why the gun is being purchased.   As a citizen I would get a group of people that feels the same way as I do to discuss different topics on how we can get the gun off the streets. I would start by writing letter to the government, communities and to visit different school to get the word out about guns and violence. I would also put up billboards in every borough to advocate for gun control.

Given the Revolution in Egypt, How Does Kavon Williams Feel about Living in a Democracy?

I think it is important to live in a Democracy because it means freedom. To be treated equally and to have rights. Also to be able to vote people in to represent the government that is strong and fit to rule.

The right that I have that people under a Dictatorship do not have is that when I turn 18 years old I will be able to vote for my political party members and for a president. Supporting good leaders and replacing the bad ones. I will also have equality and opportunities as a citizen and be able to live a life of my liking.

What Would Kavon Williams Say to President Obama If He Could Speak With Him?

If I had 15 minutes to talk to president Obama about a social problem it would be about people losing their jobs and people losing their homes because they can’t pay the mortgage. I would ask him what is his plan on creating more jobs so people can work.   I would also ask him about education because there are so many teachers out there who are not willing to teach kids who are failing in school. My final question would be about health care. There are so many people who are not able to go to the doctor because they don’t have health insurance. I would want to know what steps he is going to take to fix these problems.

What Social Problem Would Kavon Williams Try to Solve If He Had $1 Million?

If I was given one million dollars to combat any problem in the world it would be homelessness. Every day I see at least two to three homeless people on the street without proper clothing. The first thing I would do is give money to different shelters around the world that are working with this population so they would be able to expand their facilities. More people will have a warm place to stay. I would also use the money for these shelters to start new programs such as reading, writing, and math and computer class to help the homeless to find their way in society. Secondly I would write to other agencies for more support, so that the shelter can stay open for many years to come.

Which Leader Inspires Kavon Williams the most?

The leader I look up to is Oprah Winfrey. One day I was watching her show with my mother and I said to myself this lady did a lot for people. I think Oprah is an amazing, powerful influential person; she helps those who can’t help themselves. She started her own show so she can help others. She teaches people that there is a way to do anything you want to do only if you try. She also teaches you not to say I can’t do it; instead, it should have an I can do it attitude. Oprah is truly an inspirational person. What I like the most is that she opened a school in South Africa for girls. She inspired me to push on until I succeed in everything I do. She is also a philanthropist who is changing the world and making it a better place.

What’s on Kavon’s mind today?

The holidays are approaching quickly, I just want to say to everyone to take a minute to give thanks for everything you have or had. Then take another minute to think about those who are less fortunate than yourself and say a prayer for them.

I’m wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Be Safe And Enjoy…………

Why So Many Americans Are Suffering Economically Today – Kavon’s Opinion

I think many people in our community are suffering economically because of lost of jobs which keeps them from paying their mortgage and bills.

I also think people are suffering economically because they don’t budget their money right and they over spend. People need to see what’s important in life. Spend only on the things you need and not the thing you want.

I think the government should be able to create more jobs so people can get out of debt and people won’t lose their homes and be forced to live in shelters
