Gabrielle Bradley’s Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancelor

My opinion of Cathy Black becoming School Chancellor when she is not an educator is that she shouldn’t even be appointed. I think that she should not be School Chancellor because she does not know about education. She can’t help solve the problems that our schools are facing because she does not know anything about the school system. Another reason I think she is not good for the job is because her kids never attended public schools. So she never had any interactions with the public school system

I think what is wrong with NYC public school system is that the students are not graduating on time and successfully with strong academic standing.  There need to be a lot of supports in place so that failing students can get the help they needed. I also think that teachers should help students with their self esteem and encourage them to be confident. This would create better students who will be successful in college and life.

Gabrielle Bradley on the Public Outcry for Gun Control

Well, I do think there is a need for better gun control laws. This is because if you just give out a gun to anyone, they will use it for many reasons. For example, they can use it to protect themselves and to hurt others. One thing we can do to stop the violence is for gun dealers to fingerprint anyone who’s buying a gun.  Another thing we can do is to install tracking devices in the guns. This way you can always know where the guns are and who it is with. As a citizen, I think that we can start a program that take gun out of the hand of young people.

Given the Revolution in Egypt, How Does Gabrielle Bradley Feel about Living in a Democracy?

Living in a democracy is much better than living in a dictatorship. Democracy allows people to live in freedom and they also have the right to vote and many more things but living in a dictatorship is a whole other thing. When you live in a dictatorship you do not have the right to vote and you also have to do what you are told by the president because you are not free. When you are in different government you have many different rules. Some rules that are different is that the monarch also known as the king or a small group of people have unlimited power when living in dictatorship but when you live in democracy the power of the government is divided into groups, so that no one branch would not have too much power. Also when living in the democracy you are protected by the constitution that has rules like freedom of speech, of religion, of press and many others so that people can be safe.

What Would Gabrielle Bradley Say to President Obama If She Could Speak With Him?

If I was given 15 minutes to talk to President Obama about a social problem facing our country today it would be about the economy. I would talk to the president about the economy because that is a very urgent problem facing this country. I would like to talk to him about how he has helped the economy, how he’s going to help the economy and how we can as the people help with the economy.

Which Leader Inspires Gabrielle Bradley the most?

Philanthropy is a desire to improve the material, social, and spiritual welfare of humanity, especially through charitable activities. There are many philanthropists in the world today. As an ambassador of Journey for Change, I am a benefactor of philanthropic endeavors of Malaak and Chris Rock and the supporters of Journey for Change. Their offering of themselves has allowed me many opportunities that I could have not otherwise been offered at this time in my life. This has inspired me to do the same for others. I realize that you don’t have to have lots of money even though it helps. All you need is a desire and the need to bring about positive change in the lives of others and I am on that journey.

This Local Issue Needs Attention by Gabrielle Bradley

There are many problems that play in our community such as drugs, teen pregnancy and poverty! The one that I would like to see eradicated is drugs. When I walk through my neighborhood I see a lot of young people that are addicted to drug. That needs to change. Some ways that would happen is by talking to your child about not using drugs and also by watching your child’s activities and computer use because kids can get drugs online. Other ways you can make sure your child would not get addicted to drugs is by being a good example. If you are on drugs your kids would most likely end up doing what they see you do.  Parents should also have family dinners more often; I read that kids who eat with their families less than 3 times a week are two and a half times more likely to have used drugs. These are some ways that you can eradicate this problem in my community and there are many more.

What’s on Gabrielle’s Mind Today?

There is so much hatred in our world today, such as racism, sexism, anti-Semitism and gender bias. I think that it is about time for us to get along and respect our differences. We live in a diverse society. Our schools are diverse. I can look in my classroom and see students of different cultures, race and genders. In spite of all of our outward differences I realized we are all the same. So we must all try to find our common ground and get along.

Joshua’s Nickelodeon HALO Award by Gabrielle Bradley

Last week Friday I  saw the Halo Awards on Nickelodeon. It was so amazing and moving. It made me feel so good to be a participant in the Journey for Change program like Joshua. I would like to be just like him and the other honorees one day. These halo honorees were so powerful and helpful to their community and themselves.

Why So Many Americans Are Suffering Economically Today – Gabrielle’s Opinion

America is one of the richest nations in the world, so why are so many people suffering economically? I think that so many people are suffering in our country today because so many jobs that are being outsourced to where the labor is much lower. Another reason is because of all the money that the government is putting toward the war. With all that happening the government decided to take away unemployment payments from everyone. Now that all of this is done we are also going through an economic crisis. These are all the reasons why I think that many people are suffering today.

Washington, DC – Gabrielle’s Experience

This week I had a great experience in Washington DC. This trip was exciting because on the first day we went to Capitol Hill. On Capitol Hill we met two political leaders, one named Yvette Clark, and another Elijah Cummings. First we met with Congresswoman Yvette Clark. She was a little late, but that is the life of a Congresswoman. On the other hand, we met with Congressman Cummings. The words he spoke were very powerful and moving. One of the things that he said that was very powerful was that “We are not the future, we are the NOW!!” The next day it was very educational because we went to the White House. At the White House we got a tour of the Blue Room, the China Room, the Green Room and the Red Room. Those rooms had so much history and pictures in them. On that day we also went to Capitol Hill again. On Capitol Hill we went to the place where the Senators meet, but they were not in full session while we were there.  After that we went back to the hotel and had dinner.  Today we went to a college called Georgetown University. It is very big and it looks like a huge castle. They separated us into two groups before we started the tour. My tour guide’s name was Maria.  Maria was great. She showed us very exciting things. She was only a freshman, but she was in many clubs and groups. Today we also went to a museum called the Newseum. The Newseum was very fun and educational. It has exhibits about 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. Lastly we went to the Holocaust Museum. It was sad to see how the Jews died and how they survived. It was also sad to know that 6 million people died because they were different.
