This Year Bad Winter Season by Shakirah Brown

Well no I don’t think that’s why people are blaming global warming. I think people is blaming global warming because not enough people is recycling and keeping our planet clean an safe. That’s what I think people are blaming global warming. What I would do to keep our planet green is tell at least the amount of people about it. I would tell them how it is important to keep our planet clean. I would hand out information on how they can help keep our planet green and global warming. Those are the ideas I would love to do more and to help people understand its important to us.

Emani’s Hears Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancelor

Yes I believe people have the right to be upset with Cathy Black as the School Chancellor. From being the former Hearst Magazines executive, she has no experience also because we all know she doesn’t have the right knowledge about being the School Chancellor.
So they should be worried about the system going down and out of hand. What hey need to start thinking of is the actual stuff that they can do not to only benefit the students and the system , but for the teachers and the parents/guardians of the students.

What Other African Country Would Myah Lynch Like to Visit?

I would like to visit Ghana because the kids from JFC1 had a great time helping the kids get out of slavery. Also I read this book called Copper Sun By Sharon Draper and the people in her book originated from Ghana and they had a good time living there and I would like to see how they live and also how the villages look. I saw a village in South Africa but I want to see a village in Ghana. I Also think from the book that it is a beautiful country because in the book Sharon Draper described the country as a beautiful and friendly country.

This Year Bad Winter Season by Myah Lynch

I think that the people who are blaming our bad winter on global warming is correct because Global warming is really messing up our earth and it changes the way the earth functions such as the weather, volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis are triggering. A lot of bad things are happening to our earth and we have to do something about it.  Personally I try not to throw things on the ground outside also i try to reuse different things like plastic cups and paper plates. I Need to take my own shopping bag when I go shopping (not the paper or plastic bags a bag made out of cloth). I need to do this because it will help the earth because when I’m done with the paper or plastic bag i throw it away and it gets dumped in the ocean and it is very unhealthy because fish live in the ocean and some people eat fish.

Myah Lynch’s Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancellor.

I think that people have the right to be upset because they want their kids to have a good education. Also because this is the women that would be helping schools give their kids an education. If I was in this situation I would be upset too because then my kids education is on the line. In the public school system there is nothing wrong. Some kids don’t want to learn but they also don’t want to not learn by themselves so they don’t give everyone else a chance to learn that is why there is not a lot of kids graduating from school.

South Sudan Break Away From Sudan by Kristian Capers

I think that it is historic for any country to gain it’s independence. Especially for a country that had bloodshed, war, and ethnic cleansing. Just like in America, when we got our independence it was historical. It is historical because it represents a new era. Also it will serve as a test for the new independent country. The test will determine wether or not the country is capable of being independent and making decisions by itself or not. Everyone hopes that the country will be able to but there is no way of knowing for sure.

Vandesha Walker’s Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancellor.

I do believe that people have the right to be mad. I would be mad if I was them as well. If this person does not have any experience with working in schools or with anything that has to do with education then she might make mistakes. This will not only affect the students but it will affect the teachers and parents as well. The big problem with public schools is the way they are ran and also because they are not as big as private schools they are not treated with respect. I think that if people would just put in the time to help the public school and provide the materials that they need to teach the students, then they would probably run better.

Donovan Rogers’ Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancellor.

Dear JFC Followers,

As you may know, the Mayor recently appointed Cathy Black as the NYC School Chancellor. Excitement on her behalf of getting the job, but the children and parents are far from excited and they have the right to be. Not only is she unqualified, she has no clue in what her duties now included.

I feel that the Mayor just decided to give a job to a friend that he wanted to bring into his own alliance without giving any thought to the educational needs of the students in the New York City School System. It is imperative that we have someone lead this system with education, business intelligence and training. The Mayor did not advertise this position or seek out the best qualified. It is just giving a friend a job without considering what is really needed. Mayor Bloomberg just demonstrated his lack of caring and knowledge in the field of education. He further demonstrates that he should not have control of the system because he has no professional education training either. Education is not like corporate America where what goes in should go out. We, the children are not widgets or magazines. We are humans who need an educational leader that understands our needs from all walks of life. We are important people who need a Chancellor who understands our needs in the 21st century today. The citizens of New York City now see that Mayor Bloomberg is just an uncaring person more concerned with control and power than the needs of our educational system.

Once Mayor Bloomberg finds a replacement, just maybe he will be respected again because education is a big part of children in any city. He claims New York City to be his work of art, then why does it have big blotches on this painting. Mayor Bloomberg, it’s time to own up to your mistakes and take action before your term is up! Ms. Black, I’m sorry but this just isn’t the job for you.

Your Friend,

Donovan Rogers

Tyler William’s Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancellor.

After  researching about  Cathie  Black, the former  NYC  school Chancellor  I  learned a  lot  of things  Bloomberg  left unanswered. Cathie  Black  has  no  background in education  for  such a  job. Ms. Black  was head of  a  magazine
and  a  newspaper and  was  not fit  for  the job. I  think  people, especially  parents and  students, have  every right  to  be upset. We  are  in a  horrible  situation with the  city  firing over  15,000  teachers and  now  we have  a  school
chancellor  that  does not  know  what she  is  doing.

In my  opinion,  when someone  gets  a high  ranking  job like  President  or secretary, they  have  to know  what  they are  doing  and know  what  needs to  be  fixed and  worked  with. Cathie Black  served  fewer than  one  hundred
days  when  she quit  her  job. During that  whole  time, she  has  basically
sat  back  and done nothing. New  York  City is  in  a crisis  that  is endangering  student  education. You  can’t have  people  sitting down  doing  nothing.

The NYC  schools  have so  many  problems per  school  make a  book. Schools  in NYC  are  losing teachers  for  one; teaching kids  with  books published  2  decades ago;  and  then you  have  the major  problem  with student  discipline. There are plenty  more  too. Problems like  these  cannot be  left  untaken care,  something  needs to  be  done.

In Conclusion, choosing  Black  for school  chancellor  was a  bad  Idea and  is  another reason  of  the hundreds  while  Bloomberg should  not  be mayor.

Kaela Jones’ Thoughts About Cathy Black, The Ex-NYC’s School Chancelor

I think in a way people do have the right to be upset with Mayor Bloomberg and his decision to choose Cathy Black as school chancellor. I say this because Cathy Black has no experience with the New York City school system. She has her own children in private school. That to me says that she doesn’t believe in the public school system at all. If she didn’t even put her own children in public school what is she trying to say about the education that the children in public school get? Is
she saying that its not good enough for her children? Because if that’s the case then she shouldn’t have anything to do with the school system at all. Her former job didn’t even have anything to do with education at all. She also has no compassion for the parents. She once said that if the parents were to go on
birth control then there wouldn’t be overcrowding in public schools. I also think
that people don’t have the right to be upset because she could probably bring something different to the job. Because her children go to private school she might know how to use some of their ways of doing things to help the school system. There may be a chance that she could bring something new to the table.

I think that what’s wrong with the school system is most of the teachers are not making the work interesting to children. Most of my friends say that school is boring. When I was younger I loved to go to school because I never knew what my teachers would do on that day. I was excited to learn, they made learning fun. Now that I’m in the eighth grade I wish that my teachers would make more of the work we learn fun. I went to different open houses for high schools and one of them stood out because they use theatre to teach social studies. The teachers dress up in costumes of the era and speak in the language of the time it was so cool. And I know that I’ll remember the lesson because it would be like I was really there.
If they could make learning fun more children would want to go to school and
they will do better and graduate.
