I think it is important to live in a democracy because not everyone is going to have the same views or feelings about our government. Living in a democracy allows people to be individuals. Democracy allows people to voice their views or concerns. For example we have elections to choose who we want to represent the United States. The people who choose who they want to be leader don’t have to feel that they will be punished if they don’t think or feel the way the dictator feels. Also I don’t think it is fair to punish other people because they think or they feel differently from the dictator. I also think it is important because if people live under a dictatorship none of their opinions will be heard. When living under a democracy you can vote for what you believe in or what you want to happen. For example if there was a particular law that was voted into congress but the law had flaws, the people could lobby to get them to change the law. But when you are living under a dictatorship you can’t decide on what you believe in, you are told what to believe. you can’t debate on what you think is right, you have no choice but to go with it. But when deciding to live under a democracy you can do the total opposite. I have the right of freedom. I can think and choose for myself. When the government has complete say over how things go they want to control every part of your life. I’m happy to live in a democratic government because I have a voice and I want it to be heard.
